Fantasy football start, siege, injuries, ratings and lineup tips: Week 1 live updates

I’m not going to answer a ton of questions about Cam Akers or Allen Robinson and what you should or shouldn’t do with them here. This has been covered extensively over the past two days. I’m also not registered in any league, so it wouldn’t come from the heart anyway. Here’s what I’m going to rant about saying. In none of my leagues has anyone pitched Robinson OR Akers against me. Not fair!! I saw someone, who I know is a huge Bills fan, throw ARob in place of Gabe Davis 🤮. I’ve also seen Akers get the better of Ezekiel Elliott and in another league, Brandin Cooks or Darnell Mooney. While we don’t know these are as bad as sitting Davis for Robinson, they look damn bad, and I ask again, why not against me??

Here’s what you need to know before kick-off.

How much weight do you place on last year’s defensive strengths? Should we be worried about, say, Zeke Vs Tampa because of what happened last year, or is that overthinking it?

Since you mentioned overthinking, I have to tackle this one. It’s so hard to think just the right thing, without being tied to your instincts, but without questioning your research and your logic either. I’ve seen Tampa’s defense ranked third overall this season. Last season they were the fifth toughest fantasy clash for RBs, 10th overall. Like so many things, it depends on your other options, but this should be a good game – high score and close – for the fantasy, so I’d probably start Zeke even if you have rational concerns about the game.

Dynasty superflex 14 team league: trade Dameon Pierce for kJ Osborn and a (probably late) 1 rounder?

Dameon Pierce or Damien Harris as standard.

Full flex position ppr, start Dameon pierce or Aiyuk?

I’m grouping here some questions from Pierce because I’m a big fan. He is a player I fielded as soon as I could. I wouldn’t trade him for Osborn and a dynasty pick because running backs tend to be so rare in this format and league size. I would do it again with Harris today, although it’s closer with Aiyuk. Looks like George Kittle will be out and the rain might ease up in Chicago. Aiyuk is a player I believe in in general, so right in the PPR, with big 49ers favorites on the road, I would probably trust him today.

Deep keeper league and I have plenty of rookies to choose from in my flex plus Nico Collins. Options are

  1. Romeo Doubs
  2. George Pickens
  3. Chris Olave
  4. nico collins

A little puzzled. I’m leaning towards Nico Collins but I’m also looking at the Lazards situation and I think I should go with Doubs.

I like the doubts for both people here. Quarterback play is definitely a factor, it looked like Aaron Rodgers was able to develop some confidence with Doubs in the preseason. With Lazard likely to sit today, the Packers should rely on him in a close, high-scoring game at Minnesota.

With Chris Godwin probably absent, or at. better limited, for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys, would you start Michael Carter or. Garrett Wilson of the NY Jets as flexible?

No.

My league teammates made a $50 bet that Diontae Johnson or Jerry Jeudy will average over PPG min 12 games. Who wins the bet?

The Gods of Injury, most likely. If both play 12 games, it’s close. I lean Johnson, personally.

10 team ppr flex Bateman juju or hunt?

Batman.

Start 1 HPPR: Rhamondre Stevenson, Josh Jacobs or Michael Carter?

Ugh. Jacobs. Partly because I trust his role, but mostly for the positive game environment (over/under 52 points), although we should be wary of expecting the race to be as easy as it is. t was last season against the reorganized Chargers defensive line.
